Paul is a retired fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the South African Society of Chartered Accountants with 48 years of auditing and accounting experience. Qualified in 1961, he began working for international firm Price Waterhouse in their London and Johannesburg offices. After turning down an offer of partnership back in Johannesburg, decided in 1977 to commence practice as a sole practitioner in Hermanus, a small coastal resort south west of Cape Town, before, after 31 years varied experience, happily emigrating with wife, Di, to New Zealand to join RES in August 2008 under a 3 year work permit in order to be near their two married daughters (in Auckland) and youngest son (in Queenstown) all of whom are now happily residing in Aotearoa.
