Going The Distance

Recently Aimee Bridgman and I flew out to the Gold Coast to attend the 10X Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony. The theme this year was "Going the Distance" - basically it was all about perserverance and stretching your mind to setting goals and then focussing on the steps that you need to take to reach them. Remember - Aim High and you might just hit it! The messages which we took away were too powerful not to share with RES Group's clients so I thought I would do a summary of those that I consider the most valuable.

The Psychology of Pricing

This month I decided to do some research into the area of pricing. Psychology is one of my interests and what I did my degree in so I thought I would look at pricing from a pyschological perspective. We generally assume that when it comes to pricing we all use rational economic thinking but in reality each of us processes numbers differently and when confronted with a variety of price triggers we can be seemingly irrational when it comes to considering prices. Price is generally all in the mind, as customers we buy first on emotion and then we rationalise our decisions later. Customers all expect a "fair" price, however what constitutes "fair" is in the mind of the beholder. A business that considers the psychological factors of pricing will have a distinct advantage; here are some things to consider:
